Guest Designer Stephanie!

I am thrilled to be Guest Designing on the Jaded Blossom Blog again today featuring the August I Love the 80's release

Today I chose to focus on the 80's Stencil with several different stenciling techniques.  The first is using Therm-o-Web Transfer Gel.  I usually apply the gel through my stencil before I go to bed, then it is nice and dry and ready to go by morning.  Otherwise it takes about an hour or so to dry, depending on how heavily you apply it.  I used watercolor paper as my base.

When it was dry, I ran it through my laminator using wonderful Therm-o-Web Rainbow Transfer Foil ... how cool is that fun design with the 80's Stencil.  I love that the design works from any direction.

JBDT2-1awm

For my layout I used this week's Paper Craft Crew Sketch.

PCC389

I cut coordinating rainbow card strips and used the sentiment stamp from Love the 80's.  I added a touch of color to the stamp, and then cut out a second shooting star to use as the embellishment on the bottom left of the sentiment.  I added bright pink star gems to finish the design.

JBDT2-1wm

There are so many 80's friends that I could send this one too.

When you foil a background you are left with the negative of the design.  Since I could bear to let it go to waste, I applied 6" double stock tape to the back and attached it to white cardstock.  When I pulled away the clear overlay, it pulled away tiny bits of the foil, but I still loved the effect.  Since the open areas were now stick with the adhesive from the back, I sprinkled on clear glitter to fill them.

I used my diamond punch to punch out as many diamonds as I could from the 6" piece keeping them all facing the same direction.  Next I used adhesive to position my diamonds on a white card base hanging them slightly over the edges.

JBDT2-2awm

I added my favorite sentiment from Pump Up the Jam stamped no white cardstock and adhered with foam tape for dimension against the busy background.

JBDT2-2wm

I finished with trios of rainbow gems.  I love how the "leftovers" turned out.

I hope these projects gave you some ideas about how you can try different techniques with the 80's Stencil from the "I Love the 80's" release ... and if you didn't catch my projects that I made for the release, you can find them at my blog Ingenious Inkling or my Instagram account.

Love One Another!

Happy Friday everyone! Have you checked out this month's monthly challenge at Jaded Blossom? The theme for August is FEELING FRUITY. You still have time to play along with us. The deadline to link up your card is 09/05 at 11:59pm PST for a chance to win a FREE stamp set of your choice!

Today, I have a special project. I'm been wanting to make something like this for a while, and when Jaded Blossom came out with the RAINBOW DIES, I found the inspiration I needed to finally put this together. The canvas is 6x6 size and was perfect for my project! I cut the rainbow pieces from Xpress It Cardstock and colored each piece with Copic Markers.

Copics:
Band 1: E47, E49
Band 2: E25, E29
Band 3: E11, E13
Band 4: E21
Heart: E11, E13

I then fit all the rainbow pieces back into the white border piece and put tape of the backside to keep it all together. I penciled the words in at the bottom and then used a Tombow Calligraphy marker to fill it in. To finish it off, I added foam tape behind the rainbow piece and placed it above the words.

For more inspiration head over to the Jaded Blossom Blog! And be sure to check out the Jaded Blossom Store for all your stamps and gift giving supplies. They have various Cutting Dies to make party favors along with Favor Bags and Boxes.

Hugs,
Rosie

Guest Designer Stephanie!

For my Guest Designer project today, I wanted to play with the blending properties of some new Distress Archival Inks and the Jaded Blossom 80's Stencil ... I love the inky tie-dye effect of blending these colors using Alcohol.

JBBlogFeature1wm

I started with two scraps of watercolor paper and three colors of Distress Archival Ink - Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade & Mermaid Lagoon.  I applied the ink directly to my blending surface and then sprayed with Isopropyl Alcohol (I keep one bottle filled with alcohol just for ink blending) before dragging my paper through the ink to pick-up the colors.

JBBlog1wm

I repeated that process until the ink was all picked-up from the surface, and then did it a second time for my other piece of paper ... and these were my finished pieces of inky paper.

JBBlog2wm

Next I sprayed my Jaded Blossom 80's Stencil with Pixie Spray for Stencils and positioned it over the inky paper.  I used Dusty Concord Distress Archival Ink for one and Black Soot Distress Archival Ink for the other.  I used my blending brushes and found that on the different swirly parts of the stencil, its best to ink straight down (vs. brushing across), so you don't move the inside pieces of the swirls for a cleaner impression.

JBBlog3wm

Next I die cut both pieces of stenciled paper using the Jaded Blossom Fancy Topper Die ... I just love the stitched edge around the die ... makes it perfect to use as both a Topper and a card mat.

JBBlog4wm

I initially planned to use my Fancy Topper as intended, but it covered-up the word "Pop Rocks" which I wanted to be visible to the recipient.  So I solved that problem by adding a staple to each side of the Fancy Topper and made it into a Pocket Holder instead ... the Pop Rocks Packet fit perfectly.

JBBlogFeature2wm

For my sentiment from Jaded Blossom Pump Up the Jam & Falling Star from Jaded Blossom 80's Icons, I used the scraps of inky paper leftover from die cutting, and stamped on the inky back of the paper. I finished with a mirrored star embellishment in the center of the star.

For the card, I attached the die cut Fancy Topper as a mat on a black card base.

JBBlogFeature3wm

I stamped a second sentiment from Jaded Blossom Pump Up the Jam and the same Falling Star from Jaded Blossom 80's Icons on the back of the inky paper.  I finished with some epoxy dots and another mirrored star embellishment.

I hope these projects gave you some ideas about how you can have some inky fun with this month's "I Love the 80's" release ... and if you didn't catch my projects that I made for the release, you can find them at my blog Ingenious Inkling or my Instagram account.

Some Bunny Ate Cake

Marcia here today from The Frolicking Fairy.  I'm on the Jaded Blossom blog with a fun birthday card. I used the bunny from Some Bunny Needs Coffee, cutting him from the coffee and leaning him instead upon a slice of cake. Naturally, he brought his carrot with him.

I watercolored the bunny, cake, and carrot and lightly inked the stencil with distress oxide ink. I think this sweet bunny needs a belly rub.

Supplies used:
Some Bunny Needs Coffee
Give Me Desserts
Flan-tastic
Doily Dies
Tea Dies
Card Layer Dies 1
Random Hearts Stencil
